The Aetiology of Rheumatoid Arthritis is still unknown

The aetiology of rheumatoid arthritis is still unknown. A genetic disorder triggered by an environmental factor may induce a defective immune response, mostly in the synovial membrane. It causes a chronic inflammation of the synovial membranes of the joints with destruction of the cartilage, subchondral bone and tendons.
